Week #25 ~  The Mirror, The Brush-Off & The Good Hurt

25-1: The Brush-Off, The Good Hurt & The Amish Problem

Are you calling it a character flaw when what you're actually experiencing is a mirror held up to your own behavior — and then feeling defensive about not liking what you see reflected back?
And what if the person in your life who seems the most dismissive of you is actually the one doing the most important work — showing you that the way you make others feel is exactly how it feels when the tables turn?

WANT TO KNOW?

In this Top Gun Sales Boot Camp – Week 25 Day 1 session, Mark leads the team through one of the most vulnerable and practical episodes of the entire series. This isn't about closing techniques or commission structures. This is about what happens when a team member finally gets called out for his own dismissiveness — and how that single moment of discomfort becomes the catalyst for transformation.
The episode weaves together stories of real growth (the Dan Kosar turnaround), cultural blind spots (why the Amish struggle in sales), and a hard truth about learning: you can either figure it out the long way, or you can borrow someone else's roadmap and compress decades into days. Luke comes in having read Good to Great and asking smart questions about managing up and out. But Mark notices something: Luke was brushed off mid-conversation, and it stung. Rather than let it slide, Mark recreates the moment right there on camera — and uses it as the teaching. Why? Because watching someone experience their own medicine is how they finally understand what they do to others every single day. Kenny sees it immediately. Nora sees the magic in it too. This is what humility looks like in real time. The team unpacks the difference between a level five leader (humble, credits others, driven by curiosity) and someone who's still learning it.

They talk about the Amish — people so confident they can figure everything out alone that they'll spend months solving problems that have already been solved. And they tell the story of Dan Kosar, a CPA who heard Mark call him a loser, got mad about it, and three months later came back with his best quarter ever — not despite the harsh feedback, but because of it. Because anger can be fuel if you know how to use it.
The session closes with a question that matters: Is there so much in life you have to figure out alone that you should waste energy on problems other people have already solved? The answer might change how you hire, how you lead, and how you receive feedback when it comes wrapped in dismissal.

25-2: Somebody's Got to Care

Are you watching things unfold in front of you — a prospect stalling, a system breaking down, a person heading toward something bad — and telling yourself it is not your place to say anything?

WANT TO KNOW?

In this Top Gun Sales Boot Camp – Week 25 Day 2 session, the conversation opens with a systems problem and closes with something far heavier — and both are really the same question. What do you do with what you can see that other people cannot? And what does it cost everyone when the answer is nothing?
The session opens with Kenny facing a gap in Dreamscape's estimate system — a pricing template that does not auto-sync.
A bridge to a software partner that may have gone cold, and a decision about whether to rebuild manually or find a smarter path. Mark points toward Adam and the AI-assisted development pipeline as the next move, and the larger lesson surfaces: when one door closes on a solution you were counting on, the instinct to blame or stall is the most expensive response available. You either own the gap or you wait for the gap to own you.
The session turns to a question about what it takes for someone new to actually grow — and the Next Dimension Principle stops the room. The reason people rate themselves an eight or a nine on coachability and mean it is not because they are lying. It is because they have never stood next to a ten
Audio Podcast
The session closes where Mark could not keep it contained — three Amish teenagers dead, a brother who watched his drunk brother drive away and said nothing, a woman who told Mark to chill out mid-coaching session because nobody was dying. And Mark's response, three days later, fully formed: in my world, somebody does. Not dramatically. Statistically. If the coaching is weak, the dad works longer hours, the money never moves toward what it was supposed to move toward, the kid never gets the message that might have changed the moment. You do not have to see the body to be responsible for the outcome. Somebody's got to care. The question this episode leaves on the table is whether you are the kind of person who already knows that — or whether you are still waiting to feel it before you act like it is true.

25-3: The Sliver, The Corner You Didn't Slow Down For & The Book You Need to Write

Are you fixing the sliver — hugging it, removing it, moving on — when the only question that would have prevented the next ten slivers is: how did you get it in the first place?
And what if the reason Luke does not remember telling the client the gutters would not need to be moved is the same reason he is not going to listen to his wife — because he is not slowing down around the corners and he does not yet know it?

WANT TO KNOW?

In this Top Gun Sales Boot Camp – Week 25 Day 3 session, we step into one of the most structurally precise and personally confronting sessions of the week. This episode isn't just about Nora hitting 61% and not knowing what happened, Kenny squeezing productivity out of every minute between job sites, or the Wall Street Journal farmer who is making more money on a podcast than he ever made farming and laughing about it.
It's about what happens when you go 220 miles an hour on the straightaway and carry that same speed into the corner — and why physics, not attitude, is the thing that ends your run. The session opens with Nora's 61% day — a sold business X-ray, a good day, and no explanation for it beyond "I had a good day" — and the group working through why the roller coaster goes up and down rather than leveling out, why outbound calls stay consistent but income does not, and how squeezing 5% more productivity out of a 10% profit margin is not a minor improvement — it is a 50% increase in what everyone on the team can earn. The group digs into the Ford versus Ferrari principle of slowing down around corners — how Luke told a client the gutters would not need to be moved, the crew moved them anyway, and Luke does not remember the conversation — not because he is dishonest but because he was not attentive enough in the moment to let it slow him down and lock it in. We talk about the World War II principle — kill the leader and the Germans surrender, kill the leader and the Americans keep going — and what the team did when Mark got kicked out of the Zoom call, stepping up and running it without him.

The session closes with a key lesson drawn from Linda Brickell — Mark's international speaking coach — who told him during the ten years he spent struggling to finish his first book: you do not write a book to bestow your wisdom on other people. You write it to gain deep wisdom and understanding on a particular topic yourself. Because the real danger is not the symptom. It is the sliver you keep getting because nobody ever asked how you got the first one. Fix it at the core — the system, the communication, the listening, the corner you are taking too fast — or you are going to keep coming back in from the deck crying, and mom is going to keep making you feel better, and the deck is going to keep giving you slivers, and nothing will ever change.

25-4: The Floor, The Lazy Brain & The Three Reasons You're Not Doing What You Know You Should

Are you telling yourself you know what to do — while your brain quietly negotiates every reason why today isn't the right day to do it?
And what if the gap between knowing and doing isn't a knowledge problem at all — but a cost you've never fully calculated and a benefit you've never fully felt?

WANT TO KNOW?

In this Top Gun Sales Boot Camp – Week 25 Day 4 session, the team opens with Nora back up to 59% — and immediately revealing something more interesting than her numbers. The callbacks are coming in from people she never pushed. The client she left alone called her back asking about Action Vision. And instead of celebrating, Mark zeroes in on the danger hiding inside that result: if you can't identify what you did to create it, you can't recreate it.
And if you can't recreate it, you're not growing — you're just sitting back and letting it happen.
Then the session shifts into one of the most practically powerful conversations of the entire boot camp. Kenny wants to build a daily sales habit and lock it in. Mark responds with the story of his darkest business patch — the moment he decided the minimum floor was three sales calls a day. Not a goal. Not a ceiling. A floor. The thing you never go below no matter what your brain tells you. Because the brain is naturally lazy. It will always find a reason. The discipline isn't in doing more — it's in refusing to do less.

The session closes with a breakthrough that reframes every excuse anyone has ever made about consistency. If you know what you should be doing and you're still not doing it, there are exactly three reasons: you don't fully know the benefit of doing it, you don't fully know the cost of not doing it, or you don't yet have the capability to get it done. That's it. No fourth reason. No exceptions. Pick which one is yours — and get to work.

25-5: The Sneaky Bugger, The Clothes on the Ottoman & The White Paper That Doesn't Work

Are you losing deals to prospects who seemed red hot — and blaming the lead instead of asking why you didn't see it coming?
And what if the system you built, the white paper you wrote, the process you designed isn't failing the people around you — but the people around you haven't yet put in enough work to make it theirs?

WANT TO KNOW?

In this Top Gun Sales Boot Camp – Week 25 Day 5 session, the team closes out the week with one of the sharpest, most character-driven episodes of the entire boot camp. Mark opens with a story from 25 years old — the moment a president asked him once, calmly, whether he was tracking the radio leads. No anger. No frustration. Just one question. And Mark's internal response? I'm an absolute idiot. How could I not have known that? That standard.
Being more frustrated with yourself than anyone else ever will be — is the thread that runs through everything in this session.
Then Luke brings two leads that deceived him. Hot prospects who went cold. And before he even finishes the sentence, the language reveals everything. Mark catches it immediately. The wording comes from how you think. If you call them sneaky buggers and move on, you learned nothing. If you ask what skill you were missing that let them get past you — that's ownership. That's growth. The session unpacks the amiable personality type, why being too available is a liability, and why your phone skills will always be your first line of defense against leads that waste your time and energy.
Audio Podcast
The session closes with the white paper that doesn't work — and the revelation that no system, no tool, no white paper will ever work for someone who didn't build it, struggle with it, or fight for it. Value comes from work. The more you wrestle with the process, the more the process works for you. That's not a philosophy. That's a natural law.
